Our History

On the 8th of August 1944, an aircraft crashed at the entrance of a farm.
The Escapade Campsite was founded in 1981 on this former farm.
Over the past 40 years the campsite has had 4 other owners.
We, Laurie and Véronique, took over the campsite in 2021.
Each year, we make it our goal to grow and improve the place, while preserving the environment and history of this place.

Our Philosophy

Calm and tranquility are the key words. We aim to always share with you benevolence and respect.
We provide many services suited for the whole family, to make sure that grandparents and small children alike have the best time.

Covered heated pool, sports ground, tennis court, ping-pong tables, inflatable castles, playground and pétanque strip: an awesome choice of activities for everyone.
You will also find many hiking trails, mountain bike tracks and treks near the campsite.

The pond

The campsite has two fishing ponds with white fish (carp, roach, bream …). Every year we release fish to maintain a good population level.
Enthusiasts can therefore enjoy fishing in great conditions while spending time with their family.

A region marked by History, Normandy is rich in amazing places to discover. From the infamous, UNESCO World Heritage Mont St Michel for beautiful sightseeing, to the D-Day Landing beaches for historical memorial sites or the Bayeux Tapestry for a journey through medieval times, the region has much to offer.
Leaflets are available at the campsite’s reception desk for more information on the region’s landmarks. Many great museums and activities are located within 50 kms of l’Escapade.

After a 20-minutes drive, you’ll reach Bayeux, a must-see Norman town renowned for its history dating back from the 11th century. Explore the famous cathedral, the Tapestry and discover many medieval activities.

The D-Day Landing beaches

Located 40 minutes from the campsite, the D-Day Landing beaches are the starting point of the World War II Liberation.
Museums, memorials, cemeteries, there are over 30 landmarks to discover.

The Mont-Saint-Michel

The Mont-Saint-Michel is an absolute gem in the region, only an hour and a half away from the campsite. This Norman historical wonder rises from a big rock, where you can visit the small village and the monastery.
It is also possible to cross the bay on foot but a guide is essential to avoid quicksand.

The team is looking forward to welcoming you!
